Grand Cinema

Grand Cinema

The Grand Cinema was opened on Clarence Street, near the end of Gillygate, in 1919 as York’s third purpose-built cinema. It had a ballroom but the cinema closed in 1958, although was a roller-skating rink for a short time. The site then became used as a car showroom until it was demolished in 1989 to make way for a car park.
